Manage Your Activities with the To-Do Bar (Outlook 2007)

The To-Do Bar is a new feature of Outlook 2007 that helps you get things done. Outlook has always been a great tool for keeping track of tasks, the things you need to do in your daily life. The To-Do Bar brings together the Date Navigator (a small calendar view), your upcoming appointments, and a list of your tasks, all in a single bar.

The To-Do Bar appears in most Outlook views, and can be set to appear in any of them. You can change the size of the To-Do Bar by dragging the edge, which lets the bar show more or less information on the screen. To really make space, you can drag the edge of the To-Do Bar to the right until the bar snaps into its minimized form.

Note: You can also minimize and restore the To-Do Bar from the View menu.

When minimized, the To-Do bar shows minimal information about your day, as you can see here:

Clicking the top section of the minimized To-Do Bar causes it to return to its un-minimized state. Clicking the lower section causes the To-Do Bar to expand until you click somewhere outside the bar, which cause it to return to the minimized state. This is easier to grasp if you try it for yourself. Click in different areas of the minimized To-Do Bar and see for yourself how it works.

Microsoft has made it easy to customize the To-Do Bar so it appears in the views you want it in, and shows what you want it to show in each view. It really does make living with Outlook better.
