Show ScreenTips in Outlook

Normally, Outlook will show ScreenTips when you hover the mouse pointer over a toolbar button. When some of my students recently reported that they were not seeing the ScreenTips, we found that they had been disabled somehow. Fortunately, they are easy to turn back on (or turn off if you don't want to see them). Follow this short procedure to turn ScreenTips on (or off).
  1. In the main Outlook window, click Tools, then Customize. This opens the Customize dialog box.

  2. Click the Options tab. On the Options tabbed page, look at the "Other" section at the bottom of the dialog box.

  3. Make sure that the Show ScreenTips on toolbars option is set if you want to see ScreenTips.

  4. Turn ScreenTips on or off here

  5. Make sure that the Show shortcut keys in ScreenTips option is set if you want to see the shortcuts as well.

  6. Click Close to return to the main Outlook window.

That's it. You should be ready to go.

Close this window to return to the page you came from.
