Using Outlook Send Receive Groups to Control Multiple Mail Accounts

Here is a procedure for taking control of when Outlook checks for messages.

  1. In the Outlook main menu, click Tools, then Options.

  2. In the Options dialog box, select the Mail Setup tab.

  3. On the Mail Setup tabbed page, click the Send/Receive button.

  4. In the Send/Receive Groups dialog box, you will find a list of send/receive groups. Most likely, you will see one group, titled All Accounts

  5. When a send/receive group is selected in the list, its send/receive options appear below the list.

  6. Set the Schedule an automatic send/receive every X minutes checkboxes,and enter the appropriate number of minutes.

  7. Click Close, then OK to return to Outlook's main window. Outlook will automatically begin sending and receive mail on the schedule you defined.
