Get a Microsoft Outlook Download onto Your Computer
Now you are ready to select and install Microsoft Outlook downloads. Once the Office Online website checks your system, it displays a list similar to the one shown here.
Choose between the possible updates in this list.
The list will contain all the required and optional updates for Outlook, as well as those for any other Microsoft Office products you may have on your computer. You may also see a list of optional tools that you can download and install. NOTE: This example isn't the best because I keep my system up to date, so there aren't a lot of updates visible. If you haven't been updating your system, this list could be quite long. The basic rule is: if it is on this list, install it. Of course, there are exceptions. Sometimes you may see an update for a Microsoft Office product that you don't use, or maybe an update for a language you don't speak. You can skip those. Except for situations like that, if it shows up on this list, you want to download and install it.
Selecting, Downloading, and Installing Updates
Follow these steps to install the downloads you want:- In the updates list, set the checkboxes for every update you want to install and clear the rest.
- Click the Agree and Install button to start downloading the updates.
NOTE: It's possible that you will have to download and install certain updates before you can do others. If this is the case, the site will tell you so and provide directions at this time.
- The site downloads all the updates to your computer before installing any of them. While this is going on, a dialog box appears on the screen that shows you exactly what is going on.
NOTE: If an update requires a separate license agreement, that agreement will appear and you will need to accept it before downloading that particular update.
- Once all the updates are downloaded to your computer, a new dialog box appears. This one shows you what's happening as it installs the updates on your computer. All you should need to do is watch.
- Once all the updates are installed, you will likely need to restart your computer so the changes can go into effect. If that's the case, a dialog box will appear and tell you so.
As you can see, once you've selected the updates you want to install and started the download process, things are pretty much on autopilot. Check for updates regularly and you will keep Outlook running its best.
