You're here to make the MegaMail Outlook connection. MegaMail is NetZero's web-based mail service. It comes in two flavors: MegaMail, and MegaMail Plus. - MegaMail is free with NetZero HiSpeed Internet access, or $9.95 per year.
- MegaMail Plus is $24.95 per year.
Both versions of MegaMail will work with Outlook, and the process of configuring MegaMail and Outlook to work together is the same as well. If you are interested in signing up for a MegaMail account, the following link opens a new window and takes you to the appropriate place on the NetZero site. Be sure to come back here once you have signed up for the account so we can configure Outlook to work with it.
Since you are reading this, I'm assuming that you have an account set up and are ready to configure Outlook for the MegaMail Outlook connection. If so, follow these steps to get Outlook configured:- In the Outlook main menu, click Tools, then E-mail Accounts. This launches the E-mail Accounts wizard.
- Select Add a new e-mail account, then click Next.
- Select POP3, then click Next.
- Enter your name as you want it to appear in messages in the Your Name field.
- Enter your full MegaMail mail address, including the "@netzero.com" or "@netzero.net" in the E-mail Address field.
- Enter your MegaMail member ID screen name in the User Name field.
- Enter your MegaMail password in the Password field.
- Set the Remember password check box if you don't want to have to enter your password manually each time Outlook checks your mail.
- Make sure that the check box next to Log on using Secure Password Authentication is CLEARED.
- Enter "pop.netzero.com" in the Incoming mail server (POP3) field.
- Enter "smtp.netzero.com" in the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) field.
- Click More Settings to open the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box.
- Click the General tab.
- Enter "NetZero" (without the quotes) in the Mail Account field.
- Enter your MegaMail mail address in the Reply E-mail field.
- Click the Outgoing Server tab.
- Set the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication check box.
- Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Change the number in the Outgoing server (SMTP) field to 25.
- Change the number in the Incoming server (POP3) field to 110, then click OK.
- Click Next then Finish.
You should now have a working MegaMail Outlook connection. However, to prevent NetZero from eventually blocking or deleting your MegaMail account, you must also complete these steps:- In Outlook's main menu, select Tools, then Email Accounts.
- Select View or Change Existing Email Accounts, then click Next.
- Select your MegaMail account in the list, then click Change to start the wizard.
- Click More Settings to open the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- In the Delivery section of the page, clear the Leave a copy of messages on server check box.
Be sure to clear this check box!
- Click OK to finish.
Now you are ready to go. You should have a functional MegaMail Outlook connection, and Outlook should start downloading mail from your MegaMail account.
