Create Outlook Items in OneNote 2007 (Outlook 2007)
Thanks to the close integration between the two programs, you can easily create Outlook items in OneNote 2007. When you do, the pertinent information automatically gets transferred from OneNote to Outlook and appears in the right spot almost instantly. OneNote 2007 lets you create Outlook 2007 appointments even when Outlook is closed. If you create an appointment when Outlook is closed, the appointment gets added to the Outlook Calendar the next time you open Outlook.Note: If you have more than one mail profile, you must open Outlook to create an appointment so Outlook knows which profile gets the appointment. You can't create a meeting request with Outlook closed since the meeting request needs to be sent to the attendees. Follow these steps to create an appointment or meeting request with OneNote 2007: - In OneNote, select the container holding any text you want to include in the body of the item.
- Click Tools, then Create Outlook Item, then Create Outlook Appointment. This opens a new Outlook Appointment window.
Note: You can also use the OneNote ALT+SHIFT+A keyboard shortcut to open the Appointment window.
- Fill in any additional information needed for the appointment or meeting request.
- Click Save & Close in the Actions section of the Ribbon. This create the appointment or meeting request and returns you to OneNote.
OneNote 2007 lets you create Outlook 2007 tasks even when Outlook is closed. If you create a task when Outlook is closed, it gets added to the Outlook Tasks folder the next time you open Outlook.Note: If you have more than one mail profile, you must open Outlook to create a task so Outlook knows which profile it belongs to. Follow these steps to create a task with OneNote 2007: - Anywhere in OneNote, type the subject of the task you want to create.
- Click Insert, then Outlook Task. In the shortcut menu that appears, click the date you want to assign to the task. A Task flag appears next to the task in OneNote. The flag may appear dimmed until the task gets synchronized with Outlook.
Note: You can view details of the task in OneNote by pointing at it with the cursor until a tooltip appears containing additional information.
After a moment, the task appears in Outlook. You can follow this procedure to modify a task in OneNote as well. Simply select the task in OneNote, then click Insert, Outlook Task to get to the shortcut menu again. Once there, you can change the date for the task, mark it complete, delete it, or open the task in Outlook to make more extensive changes.

- Fill in any additional information needed for the contact.
- Click Save & Close in the Actions section of the Ribbon. This create the contact and returns you to OneNote.
