How to Copy Outlook Information to OneNote 2007



The name of this page may be slightly misleading. When we talk about how you copy Outlook information to OneNote 2007 here, we are talking about doing so using special features of Outlook and OneNote. You can still copy and paste information from Outlook items into OneNote items normally, but that isn't what we're talking about right now.

You can copy two kinds of Outlook information to OneNote. They are:

Sending E-Mail Messages

To send a copy of an open e-mail message from Outlook to OneNote, follow these steps:
  1. Open the message you want to send.

  2. In the Ribbon of the open message window, click Send to OneNote.


  3. send to onenote button

    Use the Send to OneNote button (far right) to send a copy of the message.

That's all it takes to copy an open message over.

To copy one or more closed messages, follow these steps:

  1. In any Mail view, select the message or messages you want to copy. You can hold down the CTRL key to select multiple messages.

  2. Click the Send selected e-mail to OneNote (Unfiled Notes) button in the Standard toolbar. The button looks like a tiny version of the one in the preceeding screen capture. Each message you send appears in its own note in the Unfiled Notes section.

And that's all it takes to copy e-mail messages from Outlook to OneNote.

Insert Meeting Details into a Note

If you use OneNote to take notes at meetings, the ability to insert meeting details into a note sure comes in handy. OneNote automates this task for you as much as possible, as you will see when you follow these instructions:
  1. Start in the OneNote note where you want to include meeting details.

  2. Position the cursor at the location where you want the details to appear

  3. Click Insert, then Outlook Meeting Details. This opens the Insert Outlook Meeting Details dialog box.

    Get the details of the meeting you want here.

  5. Scroll to the date of the meeting, then select the specific meeting you want details for.

  6. Click Insert Details. The meeting details are inserted into the OneNote note.
That's all it takes to insert meeting details into a note.
